There are two spheres of governance within Cape Agulhas Municipality: The Municipal Council, which is political in nature and representative of the people who have elected them; and the Administration, which comprises officials employed by the Municipality as the executors of decisions taken by Council.
The COUNCIL makes decisions in terms of legislation, by-laws and policies, as well as in terms of executive functions such as operations, projects and issues of finance. The Executive Mayor is the executive and political leader of the Municipality.
The ADMINISTRATION is responsible for tasks and functions set out in legislation, as well as functions delegated by the Executive Mayor and Council. The Municipal Manager heads up the Administrative function within the municipality.
