DELIMITATION OF WARDS IN PREPARATION FOR THE 2026 LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS

The Cape Agulhas Municipality, on behalf of the Municipal Demarcation Board (MDB), invites members of the public and stakeholders to a public participation meeting to present and discuss the draft wards proposed for Cape Agulhas Municipality in preparation for the 2026 Local Government Elections.

In terms of Section 157(4)(a) of the Constitution and Schedule 1 of the Municipal Structures Act, 1998 (as amended), the MDB—after consultation with the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC)—has the sole responsibility to delimit wards for each new municipal term.

This public meeting forms part of the MDB’s commitment to meaningful community engagement. Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to attend, give input, and make proposals on the draft ward boundaries. Please note that the draft wards are not final and are presented for consultation purposes only.

AFBAKENING VAN WYKE TER VOORBEREIDING VAN DIE 2026 PLAASLIKE REGERINGSVERKIESINGS

Die Kaap Agulhas Munisipaliteit, namens die Munisipale Afbakeningsraad (MAR), nooi lede van die publiek en belanghebbendes uit na ‘n openbare deelnamevergadering om die konsepwyke vir die Kaap Agulhas Munisipaliteit voor te lê en te bespreek, in voorbereiding vir die 2026 Plaaslike Regeringsverkiesing.

Ingevolge Artikel 157(4)(a) van die Grondwet en Bylae 1 van die Wet op Munisipale Strukture, 1998 (soos gewysig), het die MAR—na oorleg met die Verkiesingskommissie van Suid-Afrika (OVK)—die uitsluitlike verantwoordelikheid om wyke vir elke nuwe termyn van munisipale rade af te baken.

Hierdie vergadering is deel van die MAR se verbintenis tot betekenisvolle burgerlike deelname. Inwoners en belanghebbendes word aangemoedig om by te woon, insette te lewer en voorstelle te maak oor die voorgestelde wyksgrense. Neem asseblief kennis dat die konsepwyke nie finaal is nie en slegs vir raadpleging voorgelê word.
