APPLICATION FOR REBATE ON RATES FOR PENSIONERS

REBATE, IF ANY, IS LIABLE ON APPROVAL OF THE BUDGET

According to Article 15 of the Municipal Property Rates Act, Act 6 of 2004, a Municipal Council may grant a rebate on all rateable property which is owned and occupied by persons who belong to a particular class or category determined by the Council.  The following conditions apply for the granting of the rebate:

Pensioners – 60 years and older:

• Income:    R0 to Unlimited            p.a.  (20% rebate)

Qualification for the above-mentioned rebates are further subject to:

• applications must be submitted before 30 June of the preceding financial year;
• applicants must be the registered owner or joint owners of a single residential site with only one residential unit on it;
• the applicant must reside on the premises;
• the applicant must be 60 years and older on 1 July of the financial year;
• where the property is jointly owned (spouses) at least one of the applicant(s) must be aged 60 years or older on 1 July of the financial year in question;
• where the account is in the name of a Trust, the Applicant must reside on premises;
• if the applicant qualifies for Masakhane Rebate, the applicant cannot apply for Rates Rebate as well.  All Masakhane rebate applicants will receive a valuation rebate of

R250 000 on a residential property (R15 000 MPRA + R235 000 = R250 000);

• 20% disability rebate on property rates, if the household not already qualified as an

Indigent or poor household on the R250 000 valuation rebate.

The purpose of this form is to obtain the necessary information to determine whether the applicant qualify for a rebate.  All information supplied by you will be regarded as strictly confidential.

AANSOEK OM KORTING OPBELASTING VIR PENSIOENARISSE

KORTING (INDIEN ENIGE), IS NOG ONDERHEWIG AAN DIE FINALISERING EN GOEDKEURING VAN BEGROTING

Ingevolge Artikel 15 van die Munisipale Eiendomsbelastingwet, Wet 6 van 2004, word magtiging aan die Munisipale Raad verleen om op aansoek, ‘n korting toe te staan op alle belasbare eiendom wat behoort tot ‘n bepaalde klas of kategorie deur die Raad vasgestel.  Die volgende vereistes geld vir die toestaan van die korting:

Pensioenarisse – 60 jaar en ouer:

*           Bruto Inkomste:        R0 tot Onbeperk            p.j.  (20% korting)

en verder onderworpe daaraan dat:

• aansoeke jaarliks voor/op 30 Junie van die voorafgaande boekjaar ingedien word;
• die applikant(e) die geregistreerde alleeneienaar/gesamentlike alleeneienaars moet wees van die enkelresidensiële perseel waarop slegs een wooneenheid bestaan;
• die applikant(e) die woning self bewoon;
• die applikant(e) 60 jaar en ouer is op 1 Julie van die betrokke boekjaar;
• waar die woning gesamentlik besit word (eggenotes), moet minstens een van die partye 60 jaar en ouer wees op 1 Julie van die betrokke boekjaar;
• waar die rekening in die naam van ‘n Trust is, moet die Aansoeker die eiendom bewoon;
• indien aansoeker kwalifiseer vir Masakhane-korting en daarvoor aansoek doen, kan daar nie aansoek gedoen word vir belastingkorting nie.  Diegene wat kwalifiseer vir Masakhane-korting gaan op die eerste R250 000 waardasievrystelling ontvang op ‘n

residensiële eiendom (R15 000 MPRA + R235 000 = R250 000);

• 20% ongeskiktheidskorting op eiendombelasting, indien die huishouding nie reeds as ‘n behoeftige of arm huishouding gekwalifiseer het op R250 000 waardasiekorting.

Die doel van hierdie vorm is om die nodige inligting te bekom om u in staat te stel om te bepaal of u vir hierdie korting op belasting kwalifiseer.  Alle inligting deur u verskaf sal as streng vertroulik beskou word.
