CAPE AGULHAS MUNICIPALITY INVESTIGATION INTO PAYMENTS MADE INTO INCORRECT BANK ACCOUNT

Cape Agulhas Municipality has discovered, through its internal control processes, instances where a former employee provided incorrect municipal bank account information to members of the public (our customers) that had to pay fees prescribed for the submissions and approval of building plans by the Municipality.

We are implementing immediate action which includes a thorough investigation and the implementation of enhanced internal controls to prevent a repeat of such occurrences in the future.

The correct banking details of Cape Agulhas Municipality that must be used for all transactions/payments is as follows: Please note that this is our only bank account:

Customers who may have made payments into an incorrect bank account in relation to any municipal service must as a matter of urgency contact the office of the Chief Financial Officer at 028 425 5500 or email WernerJ@capeagulhas.gov.za. Customers are encouraged where possible to provide proof of such payments/transactions.
