Relevant National Diploma qualification as stipulated in the National Building Regulations
Computer literacy: MS Office
Driver’s License: Code EB
Eligible to be registered as a Peace Officer (Law Enforcement Officer)
More than 8 years building industry experience of which 3 years must be in a supervisory capacity.
Functions & Responsibilities:
Statutory Function: Serve as the municipality`s Building Control Officer (BCO)
Air Quality Legal Framework: Execute effective air quality management
Provide professional advice: Facilitate development of a healthy and safe built environment
Research: as required in support of the built environment
Policy Decisions: Provide professional and technical expertise as part of the Management Team
Legislation Interpretation: Consistent interpretation of relevant Acts, Codes, Policies and By-Laws
Present Council in Statutory Matters (hearings and/or court)
Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality on building related information and comply with POPIA
Financial Management: Prepares capital and operating estimates and manages budget
Related assignments and duties as required in Section and Department
Extensive knowledge of the National Building Regulations and Building Standards Act, No 103 of 1977
Advanced technical and operational understanding of building control functions
Extensive knowledge of laws, regulations and policies relating to Land Use Management and the Building Control
